In an effort to emergency housing for youth in Bega, Jane wrote her third film about street kids in a rural township. She hoped a film would put Bega on the map and highlight the need for a Youth Refuge. Jane is looking for sponsors to help finance the making of a six-minute trailer for the Collision. The trailer will be used to apply for funding. Jane worked with the Indigenous Community in Bega whilst writing the film and is hoping to work collaboratively with them to make the film.
Jane, a life long animal welfare activist wrote her second film based on Lawrence Anthony’s book ‘The Elephant Whisperer.’ She hoped to get a mainstream film out to expose the devastating effects of the ivory trade. Jane met with director Robin Goode (Giant Films) in Cape Town, South Africa in 2013. She was asked to write a treatment for the film. The film is progressing well with a new LA production company.
Jane has been working with English composer and pianist Andrew Brewis on the Stage Musical ‘Enchanted April.’ The book was written in 1925 and made into a film in 1992 with award winning performances by both Joan Plowright and Miranda Richardson. They hope to put productions on both in Australia and England. Andrew hails from England and is a member of the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters. Jane wrote her first feature film about Vaudeville jazz singer Pat Thompson. This writing was supported and mentored by local Documentary maker Bill Brown and long time friend of Pat’s. On completion of the film it was immediately picked up by Roserock films, a New York based Production Co. Unfortunately; the progress of the film was stopped when Pat passed away. It has since been picked up by her daughter Cate Thompson and given to Sue Maslin (The Dressmaker)
